Welcome to Class 5 - September 2017 Update
Wow! It’s the start of term again in Class 5 and the start of their final year for the Year 6 children. I’m sure they have all had a lovely holiday and will have come back to school and feeling ready to learn.
Miss Hudson has been in school this holiday making sure that the classroom is ready to learn in. She has even done some rearranging of the furniture – thankfully Mrs Gallagher and Miss Birkinshaw were in school to help her! Have a look at the photos of our learning environment.
Our first topic this year is Up Pompeii! which is a study of Ancient Rome as well as looking at the geographical differences between Italy in ancient times and today. Our topic display contains lots of useful information about the Romans, as well as some artefacts for the children to look at and handle. Doesn't our display look great?
Mrs Haslam will continue to teach the class on a Thursday afternoon and a Friday, covering the science, art and design technology. Miss Lockwood will be coaching PE and the children will also be involved in the Specialist Teaching Afternoon (STA), during which they will be taught ICT by Mr Bond, RE by Mrs Gallagher and music by Miss Hudson on a weekly basis. By harnessing everybody’s skills in different areas, the children really will be getting the most out of their learning of the wider curriculum.
We can’t wait to get stuck into our learning this year and we will update the website with photographs and information about the wonderful things we have been doing in Class 5.
